Salem Police Investigating Vandalism at America’s Stonehenge

 

SALEM — Deputy Chief Joel Dolan reports that the Salem Police Department is actively investigating an incident of vandalism at America’s Stonehenge.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, at 12:23 p.m., police responded to a report of criminal mischief at America’s Stonehenge at 105 Haverhill Road. According to a website for the attraction, America’s Stonehenge is believed to be more than 4,000 years old, and features various rock structures.

Upon arrival, police observed that one of the rock tablets at the site had been damaged by what police believe was likely a power tool. The large stone tablet was also knocked over. Police also found a an approximately 18 inch tall wooden cross suspended between two trees, and attached to the cross were several photographs and hand drawn images. Police have not identified any of the individuals in the photos.
