Salem Police Charge Area Man with DUI Following Rollover Crash

SALEM — Deputy Chief Joel Dolan reports that the Salem Police Department has charged an area man for driving while intoxicated following a rollover crash near the Mall at Rockingham Park.

The driver of the vehicle, EVAN ANAYA, 27, OF MANCHESTER, has been charged by Salem Police with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, police responded at approximately 12:46 p.m. to Mall Road at the intersection of the Rockingham Park Boulevard flyover exit for multiple reports of a rollover crash. The vehicle caught fire following the crash, and witnesses on scene were able to extinguish the flames prior to police arrival.

Upon arrival, Officer Jeffrey LaRosa found that there had been a crash involving one vehicle, a Saab, and was able to free ANAYA and a passenger from the car.

ANAYA and the passenger both sustained serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. ANAYA was transported to Parkland Medical Center by ambulance, and was later taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The passenger was transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital.

The vehicle sustained significant damage from the crash, and Mall Road was closed for approximately 15 minutes on Sunday while emergency crews responded.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
