Salem Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash

SALEM, New Hampshire — Deputy Police Chief Joel Dolan reports that the Salem Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle yesterday.

On Monday, April 6 at approximately 5:20 p.m., Salem Police responded to Zion Hill Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation by police suggests that a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Zion Hill Road when it collided with a 2012 Volvo station wagon. The male, age 47, of Deerfield, operating the motorcycle suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported by a Salem Fire ambulance to the Parkland Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of his next-of-kin.

The male, age 71, of Salem, operating the station wagon was transported by Salem Police to Parkland Medical Center for evaluation. No one else was inside the station wagon at the time of the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time, and police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The Salem Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the incident.
