SALEM– Deputy Chief Joel Dolan is pleased to announce that the Salem Police Department is now accepting applications for its 10th Annual Citizen Police Academy.

WHEN:

Classes will be held every Tuesday night from 6-9 p.m. from Sept. 10-Nov. 19.

WHERE:

Salem Police Department, 9 Veterans Memorial Parkway

WHAT:

Each fall, the Salem Police Department holds a Citizen Police Academy, providing business owners and residents over the age of 18 with the opportunity to learn about law enforcement and the department.

Classes at the academy will cover various policing topics including dispatch, criminal and motor vehicle law, patrol operations, investigations, identity theft and scams and animal control.

“Our annual Citizen Police Academy is a great opportunity for Salem business owners and residents to learn more about law enforcement and the work we do, and it’s also a great way for us to connect with the community and share an inside look at the daily tasks our officers undertake to protect and serve our community,” Deputy Chief Dolan said. “We encourage any residents who may be interested to send in an application, and join us this fall.”

Those who would like to apply to the academy can do so by printing and filling out an application, which can be found here. Applications must be submitted to the Salem Police Department no later than Friday, Aug. 30. Residents seeking additional information about the academy can do so by contacting Community Affairs Officer Brian Lawrence at blawrence@salempd.com or at 603-890-2387.
